(USA-MN-St. Paul) UC Engineer, Sr.

We are seeking an experienced, high caliber Sr. Unified Communications (UC) Engineer to be responsible for the development and design of enterprise voice and conferencing systems. This person will manage the operations and life-cycle management of UC backend technology used to provide Cisco based collaboration services. The Senior UC Engineer must have proven technical engineering depth, hands on implementation and strong operational experience in high growth and fast paced environments. This role will provide technical leadership and development of junior personnel and technical guidance to management to assist in business alignment of services. Impact this role will have on St. Jude Medical: * Leads design and implementation of voice, video and conferencing hardware and software solutions including delegation of tasks to other project team members. * Provides technical information along with financial impacts to management and business clients to obtain approvals and funding for projects. * Provides oversight of maintenance and security administration functions within the UC technology space. * Plans and forecasst software and hardware replacement cycles in conjunction with vendor release cycles and business need. * Creates engineering design diagrams and documentation of voice, video and conferencing systems. * Manages and coordinates delivery of vendor services and implementations. * Demonstrates master level skill on in place technologies and develops new skill as needed to support emerging technologies. * Mentors and assist in development of junior UC personnel. * Works on difficult and complex system problems and partners with vendors to see through to resolution. * Partners with business to advise on technical solutions and forecasted capability used to resolve business problems. * Collaborates with other senior line engineers to develop cross platform and technology solutions. * Provide 24x7 on-call support as part of rotating team coverage. * Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors. * Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned. Your experience(s), education and knowledge will further expand St. Jude Medical’s marketplace success: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Telecommunications and/or 7 years of equivalent Network and Telephony experience. * 7 years of information technology experience including at least 2 years or more of direct customer support. * 5 years of direct hands on experience administrating and installing IP Telephony systems specifically Cisco Unified Communications. * 5 years of direct hands on experience working with Cisco network devices, specifically as it applies to quality of service (QoS) and voice gateway configurations. * CCNA-V required and the ability to obtain CCNP-V within the first year of employment. * Demonstrated expertise of TDM and IP telephony concepts, networking/distributed computing environment concepts; knowledge of and experience with principles of routing, client/server programming, and the design of consistent network-wide telephony system layouts. * Demonstrated oral and written interpersonal, communication, analytical, presentation, and organizational skills; the ability to meet deadlines/work independently. * Scripting and automation skills in at least one programming language. * Must be adept at handling multiple assignments in a timely manner and meeting assigned deadlines. * Ability to work weekends and/or off hours as necessary to meet implementation timelines. * Ability to manage midsized projects and implementations. * Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment. * Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment. * Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects. * Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization. * Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner. * Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail. * Ability to travel approximately 15%, including internationally. * Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
